Luís Fabiano Meira's late challenge caught a Tapuias's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Luís Fabiano Meira helped the player get up and apologised. Edinho Maranhense took the ball and in the 5 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Marquinhos Vinhas. Marquinhos Vinhas dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luís Fabiano Meira got free with Chicão Pena in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Chicão Pena made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when Jefferson Martins sent off a good shot on target. Afonso Loureiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chicão Pena having to interfere. Chicão Pena made a fantastic save in the 26th minute, when Luís Fabiano Meira sent off a good shot on target. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Filipe Alagoano in the 36th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Marquinhos Vinhas prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Raí Almeida hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. Tapuias's Chicão Pena proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 39th minute of the match, managed to save Tapuias from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luís Fabiano Meira got free with Chicão Pena in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 47th minute Afonso Loureiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Chicão Pena saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Filipe Alagoano made a kick off. In the 53rd minute Afonso Loureiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Chicão Pena saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 56 minutes into the match, Tapuias's goal looked a bit too open when Jefferson Martins came free, but Chicão Pena reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Tapuias booed when República Rio-Grandense was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luizão Brito didn't get a good kick on the ball. Chicão Pena showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tião Tinoco in the 67th minute of the match. In the 69th minute, Luís Fabiano Meira left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The República Rio-Grandense fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. 76 minutes into the match, Afonso Loureiro notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Tapuias's Chicão Pena. Chicão Pena was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 86th minute Tião Tinoco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Chicão Pena saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 88 minutes into the match, Tapuias's goal looked a bit too open when Jefferson Martins came free, but Chicão Pena reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, República Rio-Grandense's Luizão Brito got a free kick in the 92nd minute. In the 96th minute, Afonso Loureiro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Chicão Pena was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-1. When the referee ended the match the República Rio-Grandense players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
