The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Black Bull booed when Clube Santo Afonso was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Naldo Xavier didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Kiko Penha in the 15th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Leandro Mattos saved Black Bull from getting behind. Kiko Penha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Leandro Mattos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 17th match minute, Black Bull was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Clemente Prestes to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Kiko Penha managed to get in a good position for a shot. Clube Santo Afonso's supporters rose to their feet, but Kiko Penha was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Leandro Mattos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 24th minute, Luizinho Maranhense got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 26 minutes into the match, Luizinho Maranhense had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Leandro Mattos. Black Bull's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luizinho Maranhense was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Black Bull's supporters crossed their fingers, but Vinícius Maciel was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 33 minutes, Rubens Recife mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Clube Santo Afonso and the Black Bull players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 34 played minutes Clube Santo Afonso got a freekick which was hit by Rubens Recife. When Black Bull's Vinícius Maciel in the 35th minute got a chance for a shot 35th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie.
