Fabiano Tavares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gilberto Lopez, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. Fabiano Tavares didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Luisinho da Fonseca went, in the 16th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. The supporters of VILA REAL MOC E. C. booed when CLUBE ATLETICO MAUAENSE was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paulo Renato de Castro didn't get a good kick on the ball. 26 minutes into the match, Tadeu Vinhas notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of CLUBE ATLETICO MAUAENSE's Fabiano Tavares. Fabiano Tavares was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When VILA REAL MOC E. Tadeu Vinhas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Tadeu Vinhas took the ball and in the 46 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Fabiano Tavares. Fabiano Tavares dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-5. After the first half VILA REAL MOC E. C. were leading 0-5. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Fiori Maia was the one to do the kick off. Tião Pernambucano struck a weak shot in the 55th minute. Fabiano Tavares didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for VILA REAL MOC E. C.. Tadeu Vinhas blasted a shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Fabiano Tavares having to make a save. Fabiano Tavares was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Gilberto Lopez showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-6 in the 60 minute of play. Betinho Britto stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Chiquinho Amaral's shot from short distance in the 64th minute. Fabiano Tavares made a fantastic save in the 65th minute, when Carlinhos Rezende sent off a good shot on target. Tadeu Vinhas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 71st minute, Angelo Passos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Michel Pirlo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 73 minutes into the game, Claudinei Fernandez was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. CLUBE ATLETICO MAUAENSE's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave VILA REAL MOC E. C. the free kick. After a rather tough play, CLUBE ATLETICO MAUAENSE's Claudinei Fernandez got a free kick in the 73rd minute. When the match clock showed 75 minutes, the score became 0-7 when Tadeu Vinhas sped through CLUBE ATLETICO MAUAENSE's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Fabiano Tavares. VILA REAL MOC E. C.'s Tadeu Vinhas was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 78th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. In the 82nd minute, VILA REAL MOC E. C.'s Aírton Leme dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-9. Aírton Leme could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 85th minute of the match, but Fabiano Tavares made a huge save. CLUBE ATLETICO MAUAENSE's Chiquinho Amaral got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Fabiano Tavares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tadeu Vinhas in the 90th minute of play. After 91 played minutes CLUBE ATLETICO MAUAENSE got a freekick which was hit by Paulo Renato de Castro.
