Caraubas SS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tarcisio Figueiredo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Caraubas SS booed when Parongaba SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Narciso Recife didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Tarcisio Figueiredo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Caraubas SS's Jerônimo da Fonseca played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mauro Mello in the 23rd minute of play. Zé Carlos Ferraz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Antônio Miranda's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. After 28 minutes, André Luís Neto made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Caraubas SS's Jerônimo da Fonseca tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 31 minutes into the game, Antônio Miranda cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Zé Carlos Ferraz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. André Luís Neto who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 34thth minute tested the skills of Jerônimo da Fonseca when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 36thth minute of the game Tarcisio Figueiredo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Parongaba SC's Zé Carlos Ferraz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The wind increased when Mauro Mello made the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Caraubas SS's José Carlos de Amorim got a free kick in the 56th minute. Jerônimo da Fonseca showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mauro Mello, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. A collision led to Parongaba SC getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Betão Gomes hit a great ball. Antônio Miranda sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. André Luís Neto's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jerônimo da Fonseca read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 69th minute of play. When Willian Meirelles fell near the penalty area in the 70th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Caraubas SS's protests and gave Willian Meirelles a yellow card for diving instead.
