In the 14th match minute, Fernandes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by José Paulo Neto to maneuver through the defense. Delfim Miranda recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Tony Mangueira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The audience was convinced that Tony Mangueira's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Luiz Fabiano Neves was relentless in the 21st minute of the game. Nilson Ferraz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Erivaldo Jacinto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tony Mangueiras short, quick shot in the 25thth minute got Luiz Fabiano Neves to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Romário de Amorim received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Luiz Fabiano Neves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Manuel Trigo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tony Mangueira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luiz Fabiano Neves having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Fernandes's José Paulo Neto got a free kick in the 45th minute.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tony Mangueira to strike the kick off in the second half. Nilson Ferraz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcelo Linares in the 51st minute of play. Nilson Ferraz made a fantastic save in the 65th minute, when Manuel Trigo sent off a good shot on target. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tony Mangueira in the 67th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Luiz Fabiano Neves prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 68th minute, Delfim Miranda got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Fernandes's Tony Mangueira in the 70th minute got a chance for a shot 70th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Manuel Trigo came free with the goalkeeper in the 86th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Nilson Ferraz could save by the left post. Luiz Fabiano Neves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Romário de Amorim, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. José Paulo Neto lost his temper 92 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. After a rather tough play, Fernandes's José Paulo Neto got a free kick in the 93rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcelo Linares in the 95th minute of play forced Fernandes's goalkeeper Nilson Ferraz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 97 minutes Fernandes's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Michel Gonçalves who took care of the corner kick. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Fernandes fans cheered their team off the field, for while Tricolor FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
