Dráuzio Sabóia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cláudio Chaves having to interfere. Cláudio Chaves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rodrigo Perez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 28th play minute Leonardo Zonta came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Marcelo Garcia. 1-1. In the 38th minute, Flamengo FC's Reginaldo Lira dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-1. Cláudio Chaves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rodrigo Perez, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. Flamengo FC's Cláudio Chaves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dráuzio Sabóia in the 45th minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-1 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Reginaldo Lira made a kick off. With an all-out effort, Aljubarrota SS's Cláudio Chaves threw himself towards the right post 55 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Rodrigo Perez, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Cláudio Chaves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sabino Hoffmann in the 56th minute of the match. The supporters of Flamengo FC booed when Aljubarrota SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dráuzio Sabóia didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marcelo Garcia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mazinho Zonta in the 59th minute of play. Marcelo Garcia stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Reginaldo Lira's shot from short distance in the 61st minute. After 63 minutes, Rodrigo Perez mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Aljubarrota SS and the Flamengo FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. 64 minutes into the game, Reginaldo Lira cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-1. Marcelo Garcia was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 71 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Flamengo FC! Reginaldo Lira blasted a shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Marcelo Garcia having to make a save. The supporters of Flamengo FC booed when Aljubarrota SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dorian Prado didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dráuzio Sabóia got free with Cláudio Chaves in the 82nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Elias Eger sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Flamengo FC's Cláudio Chaves proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 86th minute of the match, managed to save Flamengo FC from getting a goal against them. In the 87th minute, Elias Eger ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Marcelo Garcia was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-2. Emílio de Castro's late challenge caught a Aljubarrota SS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Emílio de Castro helped the player get up and apologised. After 93 played minutes Flamengo FC got a freekick which was hit by Emílio de Castro. Rodrigo Perez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Cláudio Chaves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Marcelo Garcia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Reginaldo Lira, who was totally free with the ball in the 98th minute. Flamengo FC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
