Bebeto Carneiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcelo Lucas having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Vágner Borges got free with Luiz Paulo Albuquerque in the 33rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Tayassu booed when Santos Futebol Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tiago Gabriel Carneiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Erasmo Mangueira hit a great ball. In the 84th match minute, Santos Futebol Clube was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sidney Brodel to maneuver through the defense. 85 minutes into the match, Tayassu's Agostinho Peres broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Tião Pimenta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcelo Lucas having to interfere. Marcelo Lucas was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Tião Pimenta showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-4 in the 94 minute of play. Agostinho Peres took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 99th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Marcelo Lucas. Santos Futebol Clube's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Tayassu played a much better game than Santos Futebol Clube and deserved their victory. The Santos Futebol Clube players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
