If Elói das Neves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 20th minute Matheus Ortiz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ronaldinho Amaral saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 23rd minute, Candeial's Elói das Neves ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Luiz Fernando Vargas. Luiz Fernando Vargas yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. In the 28th minute, Elói das Neves got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Candeial's Ronaldão de Sousa came free and shot a quick shot against goal 30 minutes in the game, fortunately Luiz Fernando Vargas had problems saving as it came toward the left post. Candeial's Ronaldão de Sousa got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ronaldão de Sousa got free with Luiz Fernando Vargas in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ronaldão de Sousa was extremely unlucky when he, in the 40th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Ronaldão de Sousa struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Luiz Fernando Vargas didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Candeial. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Elói das Neves was the one to do the kick off. When Zé Pedro dos Santos fell near the penalty area in the 54th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Magno's protests and gave Zé Pedro dos Santos a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Candeial getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Mané Teixeira hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Candeial's zone, Matheus Ortiz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ronaldinho Amaral came out of the goal and Matheus Ortiz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ronaldinho Amaral made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Matheus Ortiz in the 65th minute of play. Ronaldão de Sousa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Luiz Fernando Vargas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Elói das Neves in the 71st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Luiz Fernando Vargas saved Magno from getting behind. After a rather tough play, Magno's Basílio Maranhense got a free kick in the 74th minute. Luiz Fernando Vargas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Téo Paulista in the 75th minute of play. After 76 minutes of play Magno's Zé Pedro dos Santos was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Magno's Luiz Fernando Vargas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ronaldão de Sousa in the 78th minute of play. In the 94th minute, Mané Teixeira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Candeial's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
