The supporters of Hawaii Kokua F.C booed when Grêmio FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Percy Martins didn't get a good kick on the ball. With an all-out effort, Grêmio FC's Marco Mumbach threw himself towards the right post 21 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Álvaro Neves, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Roch Trzenzalski managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hawaii Kokua F.C's supporters rose to their feet, but Roch Trzenzalski was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tales Salgado breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Alan Faria charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alan Faria the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Hawaii Kokua F.C getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Alan Faria hit a great ball. Vítor Travassos could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 33rd minute of the match, but Marco Mumbach made a huge save. Maurinho da Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roch Trzenzalski in the 39th minute of play forced Grêmio FC's goalkeeper Tales Salgado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jaime Sabóia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Tales Salgado tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Roch Trzenzalski came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Hawaii Kokua F.C fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Roch Trzenzalski couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Grêmio FC's Álvaro Neves got a free kick in the 44th minute. Marco Mumbach was a little too slow when Vítor Travassos got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 46th minute. The score was now 1-2. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

The wind increased when Vítor Travassos made the kick off in the second half. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Maurinho da Costa during the 51st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Maurinho da Costa kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maurinho da Costa in the 57th minute of play forced Hawaii Kokua F.C's goalkeeper Marco Mumbach to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Grêmio FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Elias Mangueira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Maurinho da Costa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Hawaii Kokua F.C's zone, Vítor Travassos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marco Mumbach came out of the goal and Vítor Travassos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Alan Faria hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. Marco Mumbach showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vítor Travassos in the 93rd minute of the match. In the 96th minute, José Vítor Guedes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The Hawaii Kokua F.C players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
