Agostinho Azevedo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Arara Do vale's zone, Geovanni Corrêa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Agostinho Azevedo came out of the goal and Geovanni Corrêa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a little luck, Arara Do vale's Agostinho Azevedo got control of the ball when Geovanni Corrêa tried to sneak it across the goal line. Josué Sarmento struck a weak shot in the 30th minute. Perivaldo Senna didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Arara Do vale. The supporters of Arara Do vale booed when Quatipuru EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Betinho Lira didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, João Francisco Dantas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Quatipuru EC's supporters rose to their feet, but João Francisco Dantas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Agostinho Azevedo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Waldir Paraense fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Agostinho Azevedo having to interfere. In the 41st minute, Waldir Paraense hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when João Francisco Dantas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Agostinho Azevedo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Geovanni Corrêa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Agostinho Azevedo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. Quatipuru EC's Betinho Lira got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 84th minute Geovanni Corrêa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Agostinho Azevedo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Geovanni Corrêa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 86th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 89th minute Flavinho Toledo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Perivaldo Senna saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
