Hertz's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave SANTOS F.C the free kick. A collision led to Hertz getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Ronaldinho Ortiz hit a great ball. SANTOS F.C's Thomás Correia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fausto Mello in the 7th minute of play. Thomás Correia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fausto Mello, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. If Fausto Mello had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 19 minutes, Fausto Mello managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hertz's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fausto Mello was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cido Goiano's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Flavinho Arruda read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 25th minute of play. Flavinho Arruda made a fantastic save in the 30th minute, when Cido Goiano sent off a good shot on target. Cido Goiano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cido Goiano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Lúcio Meirelles could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 40th minute of the match, but Flavinho Arruda made a huge save. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Fausto Mello was the one to do the kick off. Thomás Correia came out of the goal in the 54th minute to try and stop a shot by Hertz's Ediberto Vargas. But to his dismay, Ediberto Vargas quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. Cido Goiano struck a weak shot in the 59th minute. Flavinho Arruda didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SANTOS F.C. Flavinho Arruda came out of the goal in the 63rd minute to try and stop a shot by SANTOS F.C's Cido Goiano. But to his dismay, Cido Goiano quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-1. Cido Goiano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Flavinho Arruda having to interfere. Rolf Imholz kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. Cido Goiano scored 5-1 in the 76th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Flavinho Arruda, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Lúcio Meirelles sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 81st minute Cido Goiano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Flavinho Arruda saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 84thth minute of the game Cido Goiano who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Hertz's Flavinho Arruda was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 93rd minute, Ediberto Vargas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. SANTOS F.C were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Hertz for a fine match.
