The Papão MZ fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Egídio Montenegro should have stopped the shot. The supporters of Curumu EC booed when Papão MZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joélson Messias didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 15th minute, Romeu Ortiz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 19th play minute Geovani Pereira came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Laerte Mota. 1-1. In the 24th minute Belmiro de Amaral shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Egídio Montenegro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Joélson Messias charged in rather forcefully in the 26th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Joélson Messias the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Joélson Messias hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. The audience was convinced that Belmiro de Amaral's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Egídio Montenegro was relentless in the 33rd minute of the game. Romeu Ortiz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. Egídio Montenegro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Romeu Ortiz in the 56th minute. 58 minutes into the match, Marcus Chaves had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Laerte Mota. Curumu EC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Marcus Chaves was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. Romeu Ortiz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Belmiro de Amaral recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Joélson Messias was shown his second yellow card after 65 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Joélson Messias hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. In the 67th minute of the match Willian Secco shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Egídio Montenegro showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 68th match minute, Papão MZ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Thomás Neves to maneuver through the defense. The crowd rose to their feet as Belmiro de Amaral kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Egídio Montenegro. That made the score 2-3 in the 69 minute of play. Gino Paraíba kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. Belmiro de Amaral fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Egídio Montenegro having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Romeu Ortiz got free with Egídio Montenegro in the 86th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, Curumu EC's Vítor Oliveira got a free kick in the 87th minute. In the 90th minute of the match Zeca Cruz sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Egídio Montenegro skillfully saved the ball. After 91 played minutes Papão MZ got a freekick which was hit by Marcus Chaves. Egídio Montenegro made a fantastic save in the 92nd minute, when Romeu Ortiz sent off a good shot on target. If Belmiro de Amaral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After having played for 95 minutes, Romeu Ortiz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Curumu EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Romeu Ortiz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 96 minutes, Faustão da Mata mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Papão MZ and the Curumu EC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 96th match minute, Papão MZ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Faustão da Mata to maneuver through the defense. Egídio Montenegro was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 98th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Willian Secco. When the match was over Curumu EC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Papão MZ throughout the match.
