Jarbas Ferreira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Antônio Carlos Cabral's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jarbas Ferreira read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 40th minute of play. Jeremias Linhares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kaká Torres, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Castro's Lucas Marquez got a free kick in the 47th minute. Canada's Zé Carlos Cearense couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 48th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Castro.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Kaká Torres made a kick off. If Antônio Carlos Cabral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 61 minutes into the match, Kaká Torres dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Jeremias Linhares, 1-2. 64 minutes into the match, Alessandro Passos notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of Castro's Jarbas Ferreira. Jarbas Ferreira was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. A collision led to Canada getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Belmiro Azevedo hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Kaká Torres in the 68th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jeremias Linhares prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Antônio Carlos Cabral recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Castro's Kaká Torres in the 73rd minute got a chance for a shot 73rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Canada's goalie prevented a goal. After 75 played minutes Castro got a freekick which was hit by Vladimir Fontes. 78 minutes into the match, Castro's goal looked a bit too open when Antônio Carlos Cabral came free, but Jarbas Ferreira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 79th minute, Cristóvão Palmeira reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Jeremias Linhares. The goal made the score 2-4. After 82 played minutes Castro got a freekick which was hit by Cristóvão Palmeira. Jeremias Linhares was out of position in the 87 minute of play, and Kaká Torres capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Kaká Torres really showed his touch with that goal: 2-5. In the 92nd minute, Alessandro Passos made a precise shot to the right of Jarbas Ferreira. Castro's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-5. Kaká Torres sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
