In the 6th minute Gilvan Quadros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zacarias Baiano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Igor Baptista's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Conrado Andrade was relentless in the 8th minute of the game. Duda Koehler received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Conrado Andrade tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Nambu booed when Iraucuba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vito Mattos didn't get a good kick on the ball. Iraucuba's Gilvan Quadros got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If José do Nascimento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nambu's Duda Koehler got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 32nd minute, Nico Vidal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Iraucuba's zone, Beto Dias stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Conrado Andrade came out of the goal and Beto Dias tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Igor Baptista sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Duda Koehler might have been able to make a better finish in the 41st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Conrado Andrade. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Duda Koehler ran back to his position shaking his head. 42 minutes into the game, Beto Dias was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Nambu's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Iraucuba the free kick. Iraucuba's José do Nascimento got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gilvan Quadros made a kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Nambu's zone, José do Nascimento stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Zacarias Baiano came out of the goal and José do Nascimento tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Zacarias Baiano took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gilvan Quadros, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 58 minutes, Duda Koehler managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Nambu's supporters crossed their fingers, but Duda Koehler was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Duda Koehler had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 62 minutes into the game, Wilton Viana was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Iraucuba's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Nambu the free kick. In the 66th minute, José do Nascimento ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Zacarias Baiano was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0.
