Murillo das Neves took the ball and in the 3 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Benjamin Valladares. Benjamin Valladares dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Benjamin Valladares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Percy Martins, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. When Betinho Aparecido fell near the penalty area in the 7th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Escola Maria do Carmo FC's protests and gave Betinho Aparecido a yellow card for diving instead. In the 7th match minute, Escola Maria do Carmo FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Betinho Aparecido to maneuver through the defense. Murillo das Neves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benjamin Valladares having to interfere. If Percy Martins had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 13 minutes, Raimundo da Fonseca mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Escola Maria do Carmo FC and the Cravaio EC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 12th minute of the game. One of Escola Maria do Carmo FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Cravaio EC:s goal. Escola Maria do Carmo FC's Rubens Maia got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Betinho Aparecido hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. Juarês Velasco was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 21st played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Murillo das Neves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benjamin Valladares having to interfere. 28 minutes into the match, Escola Maria do Carmo FC's goal looked a bit too open when Murillo das Neves came free, but Benjamin Valladares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Benjamin Valladares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Murillo das Neves in the 29th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Percy Martins in the 30th minute of play forced Escola Maria do Carmo FC's goalkeeper Benjamin Valladares to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Murillo das Neves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 33 minutes into the game, Murillo das Neves cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Benjamin Valladares was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Percy Martins blasted a shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Benjamin Valladares having to make a save. After having played for 44 minutes, Murillo das Neves managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cravaio EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Murillo das Neves was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Benjamin Valladares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Murillo das Neves in the 46th minute of play. After having played for 48 minutes, Murillo das Neves managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cravaio EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Murillo das Neves was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Murillo das Neves was the one to do the kick off. William de Lima fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benjamin Valladares having to interfere. After 53 played minutes Escola Maria do Carmo FC got a freekick which was hit by Betinho Aparecido. After a defensive mix-up in Escola Maria do Carmo FC's zone, Percy Martins stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benjamin Valladares came out of the goal and Percy Martins tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Benjamin Valladares didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Murillo das Neves went, in the 58th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-3 was the resulting score. In the 63rd minute there was a penalty for Cravaio EC. Juarês Velasco stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Benjamin Valladares. 1-4. In the 75th minute, William de Lima got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Percy Martins got free with Benjamin Valladares in the 78th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 83 minutes into the match, Percy Martins had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Benjamin Valladares. Escola Maria do Carmo FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Percy Martins was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-5. If Percy Martins had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Cravaio EC getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Percy Martins hit a great ball. In the 96th minute, Percy Martins fired away a free kick at the goal, but hit it at the wrong angle and it went over the crossbar. 98 minutes into the game, Renatinho Prado was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Escola Maria do Carmo FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cravaio EC the free kick. Cravaio EC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
