The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The nice shot from Elias Penha in the 4thth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Conrado Costa had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. Elias Penhas short, quick shot in the 4thth minute got Conrado Costa to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After some fancy dribbling in the 6th minute, Elias Penha managed to get in a good position for a shot. Jacare's supporters rose to their feet, but Elias Penha was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Conrado Costa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Elias Penha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Conrado Costa having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Jacare's zone, Vitório Moreno stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ernesto Toledo came out of the goal and Vitório Moreno tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Conrado Costa made a fantastic save in the 18th minute, when Elias Penha sent off a good shot on target. Conrado Costa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Walmyr Araújo, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. It was beautiful to see Jacare's Wilton Mendonça in action when he in the 81st minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! Walmyr Araújo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Conrado Costa having to make a save. Elias Penha recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 91st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Vasantes SS walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
