Spectators: 6924 (Terracing: 5424, Seating: 1450, VIP seats: 50) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Célio Carneiro took the kick off in the first half of the match. Adriano Mangueira recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 3rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Adriano Mangueira hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. With an all-out effort, Cacador's Laerte Santos threw himself towards the right post 8 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Álvaro Araújo, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After 10 minutes, Enrique Cearense mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Maroto and the Cacador players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 11thth minute of the game Álvaro Araújo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Maroto's Laerte Santos was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Arnaldo Alagoano got free with Laerte Santos in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Through an outstanding action, after 20 minutes, Laerte Santos successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Célio Carneiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Fausto Tasso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Célio Carneiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Rubens Mineiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Maroto's Célio Carneiro got a free kick in the 34th minute. After 37 played minutes Maroto got a freekick which was hit by César Sá. If Célio Carneiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Oscar Neves kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Álvaro Araújo was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd minute of the match Kléberson de Godoi sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Laerte Santos skillfully saved the ball. After having played for 56 minutes, Jorge Queiroz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Maroto's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jorge Queiroz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 61 minutes into the game, one of Cacador:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Marcelinho Fantini shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. Álvaro Araújo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Laerte Santos having to interfere. The supporters of Cacador booed when Maroto was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Haroldo Dantas didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some careless play in the Maroto defense, Álvaro Araújo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Laerte Santos. The Maroto fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Laerte Santos should have stopped the shot. In the 78th minute Álvaro Araújo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Laerte Santos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Enrique Cearense kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. Rubens Mineiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Laerte Santos having to interfere.
