Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Reynaldo Alcântara made the kick off which started today's match. Evaristo Pereira came out of the goal in the 6th minute to try and stop a shot by Urubu's Serafim Pinheiro. But to his dismay, Serafim Pinheiro quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Evaristo Pereira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Reynaldo Alcântara, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, SANTOS's André Luís Bittencourt got a free kick in the 12th minute. Serafim Pinheiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, SANTOS's Dalmo Rodrigues got a free kick in the 15th minute. Evaristo Pereira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Reynaldo Alcântara, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 21 minutes into the match, Urubu's Reynaldo Alcântara sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Evaristo Pereira narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 22 minutes into the match, Urubu's goal looked a bit too open when Marcelinho Pontes came free, but Chicão Couto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of SANTOS booed when Urubu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eliézer Carneiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Urubu's zone, Marcelinho Pontes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Chicão Couto came out of the goal and Marcelinho Pontes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 29th play minutes Serafim Pinheiro shot 2-0, a short shot which went by Evaristo Pereira and just under the crossbar into goal. Mauro Queiroz struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Chicão Couto didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SANTOS. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Mauro Queiroz managed to get in a good position for a shot. SANTOS's supporters rose to their feet, but Mauro Queiroz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Chicão Couto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Reynaldo Alcântara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Marcelinho Pontes made the kick off in the second half. Reynaldo Alcântara might have been able to make a better finish in the 51st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Evaristo Pereira. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Reynaldo Alcântara ran back to his position shaking his head. SANTOS's Evaristo Pereira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Serafim Pinheiro in the 53rd minute of play. Serafim Pinheiro might have been able to make a better finish in the 55th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Evaristo Pereira. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Serafim Pinheiro ran back to his position shaking his head. Reynaldo Alcântara sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Mauro Queiroz scored 2-1 in the 66th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Chicão Couto, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Reynaldo Alcântara fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Evaristo Pereira having to interfere. 81 minutes into the match, SANTOS's goal looked a bit too open when Eliézer Carneiro came free, but Evaristo Pereira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Evaristo Pereira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Reynaldo Alcântara in the 82nd minute of play. In the 88thth minute of the game Marcelinho Pontes who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Urubu's Chicão Couto was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After having played for 95 minutes, Reynaldo Alcântara managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Urubu's supporters crossed their fingers, but Reynaldo Alcântara was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
