Negro's Osvaldinho Tepedino got a good chance for a goal in the 9th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some careless play in the Rio Sena Alto do cruzero defense, Luiz Fernando Pirani kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dênis Dias. The Rio Sena Alto do cruzero fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dênis Dias should have stopped the shot. In the 19th minute the ball was on its way in behind Negro's goalkeeper Telmo Recife, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The supporters of Rio Sena Alto do cruzero booed when Negro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dito Hermes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Telmo Recife made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Denílson Fontes in the 22nd minute of play. A collision led to Rio Sena Alto do cruzero getting a freekick after 25 minutes play. João Pedro Martins hit a great ball. Dênis Dias showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Osvaldinho Tepedino in the 29th minute of the match. If Luiz Fernando Pirani had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Negro's zone, Edmundo Palmeira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Telmo Recife came out of the goal and Edmundo Palmeira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 36th minute, Denílson Fontes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 38th minute the ball was on its way in behind Rio Sena Alto do cruzero's goalkeeper Dênis Dias, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Luiz Fernando Pirani managed to get in a good position for a shot. Negro's supporters rose to their feet, but Luiz Fernando Pirani was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dênis Dias breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Luiz Fernando Pirani received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Dênis Dias tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

In the 55th minute Luiz Fernando Pirani shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dênis Dias saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Luiz Fernando Pirani had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Luiz Fernando Pirani took the ball and in the 60 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dênis Dias. Dênis Dias dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. Denílson Fontes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Telmo Recife having to interfere. A very good chance. 79 minutes into the game, Negro's Osvaldinho Tepedino nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Dênis Dias made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. After a defensive mix-up in Rio Sena Alto do cruzero's zone, Felipe Paraense stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dênis Dias came out of the goal and Felipe Paraense tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Dênis Dias made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luiz Fernando Pirani in the 89th minute of play. Elano Eger hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. When Luiz Fernando Pirani came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Negro fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luiz Fernando Pirani couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Rio Sena Alto do cruzero's Denílson Antunes got a free kick in the 95th minute.
