Jaguarandi's Cido Coelho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Délio Mesquita in the 10th minute of play. In the 10th match minute, Rio Rubro was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Célio de Barros to maneuver through the defense. Waldemar Pinheiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 20th minute, Claudinei Cardoso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. César Rosa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hélio Meira in the 25th minute of play. 27 minutes into the match, Jaguarandi's Waldemar Pinheiro sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that César Rosa narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 28th minute Hélio Meira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but César Rosa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Hélio Meira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without César Rosa having to interfere. When Dida Guerra fell near the penalty area in the 41st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Rio Rubro's protests and gave Dida Guerra a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Rio Rubro getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Dida Guerra hit a great ball. Hélio Meira might have been able to make a better finish in the 43rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over César Rosa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Hélio Meira ran back to his position shaking his head. César Rosa came out of the goal in the 47th minute to try and stop a shot by Jaguarandi's Waldemar Pinheiro. But to his dismay, Waldemar Pinheiro quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Hélio Meira to strike the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Jaguarandi booed when Rio Rubro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sidney Freitas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Waldemar Pinheiro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 53rd minute of the match, but César Rosa made a huge save. After 54 played minutes Rio Rubro got a freekick which was hit by Wilton de Amorim. Hélio Meira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Jaguarandi eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
