Abel da Mata was left in no man's land by his defense there! After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Miguel da Fonseca managed to get in a good position for a shot. Tuna Luso F.C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Miguel da Fonseca was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marcel Araújo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Tuna Luso F.C. booed when Pombal FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jeferson Eger didn't get a good kick on the ball. Abel da Mata showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Elano Albuquerque in the 21st minute of the match. After 24 played minutes Tuna Luso F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Alfredinho Vieira. In the 31st match minute, Pombal FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Elano Albuquerque to maneuver through the defense. Pombal FC's Marcel Araújo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jaime Moura in the 39th minute of play. When Miguel da Fonseca came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Tuna Luso F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Miguel da Fonseca couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jaime Moura in the 44th minute of play forced Pombal FC's goalkeeper Marcel Araújo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jaime Moura received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Marcel Araújo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

The wind increased when Elano Albuquerque made the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Tuna Luso F.C. booed when Pombal FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jeferson Eger didn't get a good kick on the ball. Elano Albuquerques short, quick shot in the 66thth minute got Abel da Mata to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Marcel Araújo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jaime Moura, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jaime Moura in the 74th minute of play forced Pombal FC's goalkeeper Marcel Araújo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Abel da Mata made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Elano Albuquerque in the 86th minute of play. Kléber Seco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Tuna Luso F.C. getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. André Mendonça hit a great ball. Tuna Luso F.C.'s Abel da Mata proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 90th minute of the match, managed to save Tuna Luso F.C. from getting a goal against them. Elano Albuquerque might have been able to make a better finish in the 91st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Abel da Mata. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Elano Albuquerque ran back to his position shaking his head. The Tuna Luso F.C. manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Pombal FC to win.
