The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Armando Quadros in the 4th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Marcinho Alves saved Perico from getting behind. Douglas Siqueira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gláuber Vinhas in the 17th minute of play. When Armando Quadros, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 18 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Marcinho Alves was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. 26 minutes into the match, Pilao AD's Joel Catarinense sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Marcinho Alves narrowly saved just below the crossbar. João Adolfo Ferreira's late challenge caught a Pilao AD's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. João Adolfo Ferreira helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Pilao AD booed when Perico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. In the 29th minute, Joel Catarinense got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 32 played minutes Perico got a freekick which was hit by Alessandro Santos. Jaime Vidal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. When Joel Catarinense came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Pilao AD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Joel Catarinense couldn't finish the play. Marcinho Alves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jorginho Mandrak, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Joel Catarinense scored 0-1 in the 45th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Marcinho Alves, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Armando Quadros made the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Joel Catarinense left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Pilao AD fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Joel Catarinense fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Marcinho Alves having to interfere. Armando Quadros was extremely unlucky when he, in the 61st minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. 70 minutes into the match, Gláuber Vinhas had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Douglas Siqueira. Pilao AD's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gláuber Vinhas was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. After 72 played minutes Perico got a freekick which was hit by João Adolfo Ferreira. Marcinho Alves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfredão Meirelles in the 77th minute of play. In the 84th minute Armando Quadros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Marcinho Alves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Joel Catarinense could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 88th minute of the match, but Marcinho Alves made a huge save. But to his dismay, Jaime Vidal quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. Jorginho Mandrak hit a great freekick 97 minutes into the match. Pilao AD were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
