Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Agreste's Rui Melo started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, Agreste's Carlos Fernando Salles got a free kick in the 4th minute. Túlio Vidal took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 5th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Chiquinho de Medeiros. Agreste's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Pedro Augusto Pinheiro hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. Guto Botelho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jarbas Capixaba in the 13th minute of play. Chiquinho de Medeiros showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Oswaldo de Brito in the 17th minute of the match. Flavinho Messias blasted a shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Chiquinho de Medeiros having to make a save. After 24 minutes of play, Caapiranga's Oswaldo de Brito made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Chiquinho de Medeiros was left in no man's land by his defense there! Teodoro Reis kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. After recieving a nice pass, Agreste's Jarbas Capixaba tried to score from far away in the 31st minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. With a little luck, Agreste's Chiquinho de Medeiros got control of the ball when Oswaldo de Brito tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 39th minute, Flavinho Messias got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 40 minutes into the match, Oswaldo de Brito notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Agreste's Chiquinho de Medeiros. Chiquinho de Medeiros was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Flavinho Messias managed to get in a good position for a shot. Caapiranga's supporters rose to their feet, but Flavinho Messias was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Chiquinho de Medeiros breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Oswaldo de Brito to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Flavinho Messias in the 55th minute of play forced Agreste's goalkeeper Chiquinho de Medeiros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 58 played minutes, Caapiranga's Pedro Augusto Pinheiro shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Chiquinho de Medeiros came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Caapiranga reached it. If Flavinho Messias had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Oswaldo de Brito received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Chiquinho de Medeiros tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Flavinho Messias struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. Chiquinho de Medeiros didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Caapiranga. Remo Galvão charged in rather forcefully in the 70th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Remo Galvão the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 70th minute, Remo Galvão hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Flavinho Messias sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Flavinho Messias in the 84th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Chiquinho de Medeiros saved Agreste from getting behind. Caapiranga's Oswaldo de Brito got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Agreste's Chiquinho de Medeiros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Oswaldo de Brito in the 87th minute of play. Ronaldão Romero fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Guto Botelho having to interfere. From close distance Ronaldão Romero pressed in the 2-1 goal high up into nets stiches in the right cross 93 minutes into the game. Caapiranga's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
