Jonathan Maias short, quick shot in the 22ndth minute got Júlio Catarinense to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Luizão Bezerra managed to get in a good position for a shot. ATCM Nightwish's supporters rose to their feet, but Luizão Bezerra was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Júlio Catarinense breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of SPORT RECIFE booed when ATCM Nightwish was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luizão Bezerra didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Jonathan Maia fell near the penalty area in the 55th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored ATCM Nightwish's protests and gave Jonathan Maia a yellow card for diving instead. After 55 played minutes ATCM Nightwish got a freekick which was hit by Jonathan Maia. A collision led to ATCM Nightwish getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Benedito Souza hit a great ball. In the 61st minute Jonathan Maia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Júlio Catarinense saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Robinho Guimarães's late challenge caught a ATCM Nightwish's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Robinho Guimarães helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of ATCM Nightwish booed when SPORT RECIFE was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. In the 90thth minute of the game Jonathan Maia who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SPORT RECIFE's Júlio Catarinense was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Júlio Catarinense took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jonathan Maia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Júlio Catarinense showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jonathan Maia in the 94th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luizão Bezerra in the 95th minute of play forced SPORT RECIFE's goalkeeper Júlio Catarinense to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. During the 96th minute of the match Robinho Guimarães completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Robinho Guimarães a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Robinho Guimarães kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match. 97 minutes into the match, Jonathan Maia notched a goal, 7-0, to the right of SPORT RECIFE's Júlio Catarinense. Júlio Catarinense was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. There was no doubt that ATCM Nightwish were the better team.
