Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Agenor Teles took the kick off in the first half of the match. If Osvaldo de Azevedo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Vitinho Paraíba received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Luciano Vianna tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Edinho Severo fell near the penalty area in the 8th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Matai's protests and gave Edinho Severo a yellow card for diving instead. In the 8th match minute, Matai was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edinho Severo to maneuver through the defense. Adolfo Pimenta blasted a shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Váldson Alvarenga having to make a save. With a little luck, Várzea Memo's Luciano Vianna got control of the ball when Vitinho Paraíba tried to sneak it across the goal line. Osvaldo de Azevedo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 13th minute of the match, but Luciano Vianna made a huge save. Agenor Teles received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Váldson Alvarenga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Matai's Frederico Cavalcante got a free kick in the 17th minute. Diego Ferreira was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 17th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 23rd minute Osvaldo de Azevedo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luciano Vianna saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With his leg Luciano Vianna managed to avoid a goal in the 25thth minute, when Matai's Vitinho Paraíba fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Matai's Vitinho Paraíba got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Várzea Memo's zone, Vitinho Paraíba stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luciano Vianna came out of the goal and Vitinho Paraíba tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 32 played minutes Várzea Memo got a freekick which was hit by Márcio Moreira. Vitinho Paraíbas short, quick shot in the 33rdth minute got Luciano Vianna to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Váldson Alvarenga showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Agenor Teles in the 44th minute of the match. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Osvaldo de Azevedo made the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd match minute, Várzea Memo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Allan Mota to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Matai's zone, Agenor Teles stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Váldson Alvarenga came out of the goal and Agenor Teles tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luiz Fábio Corrêa's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Váldson Alvarenga read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 56th minute of play. A collision led to Várzea Memo getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Márcio Moreira hit a great ball. Matai were awarded a corner in the 60th minute after Várzea Memo's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Mané Lucas took the corner. The corner ended in Mané Lucas almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Várzea Memo's Luciano Vianna did a great save. In the 62nd match minute, Matai was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Mané Lucas to maneuver through the defense. Váldson Alvarenga made an important save on a dangerous shot by Agenor Teles in the 64th minute. If Adolfo Pimenta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 71 minutes into the match, Várzea Memo's goal looked a bit too open when Osvaldo de Azevedo came free, but Luciano Vianna reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luciano Vianna came out of the goal in the 72nd minute to try and stop a shot by Matai's Osvaldo de Azevedo. But to his dismay, Osvaldo de Azevedo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. The audience was convinced that Osvaldo de Azevedo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Luciano Vianna was relentless in the 77th minute of the game. If Agenor Teles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Adolfo Pimenta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Váldson Alvarenga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Váldson Alvarenga took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Agenor Teles, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Agenor Teles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. For all the effort they put into the match, the Várzea Memo players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Matai.
