To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Hugues Baroni showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gilmar Recife, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. 34 minutes into the game, Francisco Godoi cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Hugues Baroni was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Armando Brodel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Giovanni Linhares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dino Negri sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Giovanni Linhares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dino Negri in the 45th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 46th minute, Angelo Chaves managed to get in a good position for a shot. Juventus F.C's supporters rose to their feet, but Angelo Chaves was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Giovanni Linhares breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gilmar Recife to make the kick off. If Orlando Furtado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mucaia's Giovanni Linhares proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 82nd minute of the match, managed to save Mucaia from getting a goal against them. Juventus F.C's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Mucaia had won, even though Juventus F.C had held more of the ball.
