Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gláuber Custódio to make the kick off. Otávio Simão was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 63rd minute, Oséias de Sousa made a precise shot to the right of Otávio Simão. Taquarassu's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. The audience was convinced that Oséias de Sousa's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Otávio Simão was relentless in the 67th minute of the game. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Otávio Simão made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oséias de Sousa in the 87th minute of play.
