Jeferson Nunes might have been able to make a better finish in the 7th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Diamantino Souto. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jeferson Nunes ran back to his position shaking his head. Jeferson Nunes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 10 minutes into the match, Athletic Paulistano's goal looked a bit too open when Valdemar Eger came free, but Diamantino Souto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Leandro Ribeiro was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 13th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Oswaldo Capixaba. After a rather tough play, Arsenal FC's Natã Pires got a free kick in the 14th minute. In the 15th minute of the match Tadeu Coutinho sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Leandro Ribeiro skillfully saved the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Charles Azevedo got free with Leandro Ribeiro in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the match clock showed 18 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Jeferson Nunes sped through Athletic Paulistano's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Diamantino Souto. Diamantino Souto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jeferson Nunes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Athletic Paulistano defense, Valdemar Eger kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Diamantino Souto. The Athletic Paulistano fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Diamantino Souto should have stopped the shot. Belmiro Ramalho hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. 31 minutes into the game, Jeferson Nunes cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Diamantino Souto was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jeferson Nunes in the 38th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Diamantino Souto saved Athletic Paulistano from getting behind. Valdemar Eger sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Agenor Carvalho kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Arsenal FC's Rodrigo Vander got a free kick in the 46th minute.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jeferson Nunes to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute, Jeferson Nunes reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Diamantino Souto. The goal made the score 0-4. When Josué Urbano fell near the penalty area in the 58th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Arsenal FC's protests and gave Josué Urbano a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Arsenal FC's Josué Urbano got a free kick in the 59th minute. In the 60th minute of the match Tadeu Coutinho shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Leandro Ribeiro showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Diamantino Souto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rodrigo Vander in the 62nd minute of play. If Jeferson Nunes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 65th minute, Valdemar Eger managed to get in a good position for a shot. Arsenal FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Valdemar Eger was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Diamantino Souto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Arsenal FC booed when Athletic Paulistano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Egídio Veloso didn't get a good kick on the ball. Diamantino Souto stood somewhat misplaced when Jeferson Nunes came free in front of goal and shot 0-5 to the left of him in the 71 minute. 79 minutes into the match, Athletic Paulistano's goal looked a bit too open when Jeferson Nunes came free, but Diamantino Souto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 80th minute of the match Arsenal FC got a corner. Athletic Paulistano's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gonçalo Xavier ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Gonçalo Xavier almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Athletic Paulistano's Diamantino Souto did a great save. In the 90th minute, Percival Valladares hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Gonçalo Xavier came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Arsenal FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gonçalo Xavier couldn't finish the play. Jeferson Nunes was extremely unlucky when he, in the 93rd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Jeferson Nunes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 94th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Valdemar Eger struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Diamantino Souto didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Arsenal FC. The Athletic Paulistano fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Arsenal FC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
