If Manuel do Vale had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cláudio Prado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Genílson Guerra, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. When Hudson Prestes came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the Red Bull Bauru fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hudson Prestes couldn't finish the play. Carlos Fernando Lopez charged in rather forcefully in the 11th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Carlos Fernando Lopez the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 11th match minute, INTER was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carlos Fernando Lopez to maneuver through the defense. In the 13th minute, Genílson Guerra reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Cláudio Prado. The goal made the score 1-0. Cláudio Prado was out of position in the 17 minute of play, and Genílson Guerra capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Genílson Guerra really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. In the 20th minute, Nelson Bertassi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cláudio Prado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Genílson Guerra, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hudson Prestes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Cláudio Prado tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in INTER's zone, Genílson Guerra stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cláudio Prado came out of the goal and Genílson Guerra tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Hudson Prestes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 49th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Genílson Guerra stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute, Genílson Guerra left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Red Bull Bauru fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. In the 58th minute, Evaristo Ramos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After recieving a nice pass, INTER's Narciso Torres tried to score from far away in the 59th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, INTER's Carlos Fernando Lopez got a free kick in the 63rd minute. 71 minutes into the match, Genílson Guerra had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Cláudio Prado. INTER's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Genílson Guerra was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. Cláudio Prado didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Hudson Prestes went, in the 77th minute, to the upper right corner, 5-0 was the resulting score. In the 86th minute of the match José Carlos Barral sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Cláudio Prado skillfully saved the ball. Cláudio Prado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Genílson Guerra in the 95th minute of play. After 96 minutes INTER's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Mazinho de Senna who took care of the corner kick. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Red Bull Bauru had played much better football throughout.
