If Rogério Simões had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. José Pedro Trigo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sílvio Massa having to interfere. Alvorada SS's Rogério Simões got a good chance for a goal in the 31st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Paulistas FC getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Patrick Antunes hit a great ball. Rogério Simões received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. José Paulo Montenegro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Alvorada SS's zone, Angelo Moura stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sílvio Massa came out of the goal and Angelo Moura tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Angelo Moura was the one to do the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Alvorada SS's zone, José Pedro Trigo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sílvio Massa came out of the goal and José Pedro Trigo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 55th minute José Pedro Trigo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sílvio Massa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Paulistas FC's Angelo Moura in the 57th minute got a chance for a shot 57th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Alvorada SS's goalie prevented a goal. In the 59th minute, Nico Cearense hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 68th minute, Angelo Moura managed to get in a good position for a shot. Paulistas FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Angelo Moura was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. In the 82nd minute, Donatello Machado got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 86th match minute, Paulistas FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Régis Terra to maneuver through the defense. When Oscar de Queiroz fell near the penalty area in the 87th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Paulistas FC's protests and gave Oscar de Queiroz a yellow card for diving instead. After 87 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Paulistas FC! José Paulo Montenegro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Donatello Machado in the 94th minute. If Evandro Guimarães had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Alvorada SS walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
