The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 5th minute, Walmir de Carvalho made a precise shot to the right of Vitório Melo. Lucaslandia SS's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. In the 8th match minute, Lucaslandia SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Toninho Corrêa to maneuver through the defense. After recieving a nice pass, Cauarru's Cláudio das Neves tried to score from far away in the 9th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Walmir de Carvalho in the 11th minute of play forced Lucaslandia SS's goalkeeper Vitório Melo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 14th minute Wanderson Correia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vitório Melo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Lucaslandia SS getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Toninho Corrêa hit a great ball. In the 19th minute, Wanderson Correia left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Cauarru fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Alfredão de Senna was out of position in the 25 minute of play, and Rômulo Azevedo capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Rômulo Azevedo really showed his touch with that goal: 2-2. Digo Diniz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vitório Melo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wanderson Correia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cauarru's Alfredão de Senna played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Digo Diniz in the 43rd minute of play. Walmir de Carvalho took the ball and in the 47 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Vitório Melo. Vitório Melo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-3. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 2-3 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Digo Diniz to make the kick off. If Gugu Corrêa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 58th minute, Toninho Corrêa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Digo Diniz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Alfredão de Senna tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vitório Melo made a fantastic save in the 67th minute, when Cléber Simão sent off a good shot on target. If Digo Diniz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Walmir de Carvalho fell near the penalty area in the 73rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cauarru's protests and gave Walmir de Carvalho a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Cauarru getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Walmir de Carvalho hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gugu Corrêa in the 74th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Alfredão de Senna prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When João Augusto Eger fell near the penalty area in the 75th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cauarru's protests and gave João Augusto Eger a yellow card for diving instead. After 75 played minutes Cauarru got a freekick which was hit by João Augusto Eger. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Digo Diniz in the 77th minute a chance for a shot on goal. Lucaslandia SS's Gugu de Toledo was substituted for Durvalino Lima. Alfredão de Senna showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gugu Corrêa in the 92nd minute of the match. In the 97th minute Walmir de Carvalho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vitório Melo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alfredão de Senna showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gugu Corrêa in the 101st minute of the match. Lucaslandia SS were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Cauarru to leave the ground with a draw.
