After some careless play in the Gargau defense, Ramiro Carneiro kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Severino Favoretto. The Gargau fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Severino Favoretto should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ramiro Baptista in the 40th minute of play forced Gargau's goalkeeper Severino Favoretto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 41st minute the ball was on its way in behind Rucinho's goalkeeper João Paulo Cavalcante, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

In the 51st match minute, Gargau was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nuno Netto to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ramiro Baptista in the 53rd minute of play forced Gargau's goalkeeper Severino Favoretto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Virgílio Guerra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without João Paulo Cavalcante having to interfere. Gargau's Severino Favoretto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ramiro Baptista in the 78th minute of play. Severino Favoretto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ramiro Baptista, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. Elias Lara recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 89 minutes into the game, one of Rucinho:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty.
