In the 12thth minute of the game Hernani Velasco who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Pereira FC's Rômulo Barreto was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Hernani Velasco came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the Curupira EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hernani Velasco couldn't finish the play. Gernando Mangueira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rômulo Barreto having to interfere. Pedrinho Andrade made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Maurício Fernandez in the 19th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Hernani Velasco managed to get in a good position for a shot. Curupira EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Hernani Velasco was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rômulo Barreto breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Dito Silva recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 24th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Pereira FC's Rômulo Barreto proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 26th minute of the match, managed to save Pereira FC from getting a goal against them. Nelson Félix hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. Curupira EC's Gernando Mangueira got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Hernani Velasco struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. Rômulo Barreto didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Curupira EC. 38 minutes into the match, Pereira FC's goal looked a bit too open when Hernani Velasco came free, but Rômulo Barreto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Hernani Velasco recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 43 played minutes, Curupira EC's Wesley Marques shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Rômulo Barreto came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Curupira EC reached it. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Maurício Fernandez made the kick off in the second half. Rômulo Barreto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hernani Velasco in the 59th minute of play. A hard shot by Eusébio Oliveira from long distance, 61 minutes into the match, got Pedrinho Andrade's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. In the 66th minute, Hernani Velasco got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Rômulo Barreto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hernani Velasco in the 78th minute of play. Maurício Fernandez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Curupira EC walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
