Nicósia SC's João Adolfo do Nascimento played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paulinho Veloso in the 17th minute of play. João Adolfo do Nascimento took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paulinho Veloso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nilson Veloso during the 23rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 22 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Nicósia SC! The referee gave Rexpeita a penalty, 24 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Ronaldão Pinheiro, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Nicósia SC's João Adolfo do Nascimento. 0-1. Leonardo Nunes's late challenge caught a Rexpeita's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rexpeita's Paulinho Veloso got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 42nd minute, Leonardo Nunes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Paulinho Veloso to strike the kick off in the second half. Rexpeita's Paulinho Veloso got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 61 minutes, Paulinho Veloso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rexpeita's supporters crossed their fingers, but Paulinho Veloso was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 63 minutes into the match, Nicósia SC's goalkeeper João Adolfo do Nascimento had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Paulinho Veloso. Leonardo Nunes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Magno Oliveira having to interfere. Ronaldão Pinheiro hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Rexpeita's zone, Leonardo Nunes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Magno Oliveira came out of the goal and Leonardo Nunes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nicósia SC's Waldir Loureiro got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Nicósia SC booed when Rexpeita was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nicolas Alves didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ronaldão Pinheiro came free in the 83rd minute and tried to tip the ball over João Adolfo do Nascimento, but to the joy of Nicósia SC's supporters the ball went over. If Paulinho Veloso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Nicósia SC's João Adolfo do Nascimento got control of the ball when Paulinho Veloso tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some careless play in the Nicósia SC defense, Paulinho Veloso kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of João Adolfo do Nascimento. The Nicósia SC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that João Adolfo do Nascimento should have stopped the shot.
