Maurício Couto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from José Velasco, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. When Luis-Javier Estrada fell near the penalty area in the 60th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that José Velasco couldn't finish the play. 80 minutes into the match, Sabino Marques sent off a long shot that looked like it was going straight into the goal, but because Maurício Couto threw himself in his full length he managed to grip the ball by the left post, and there was no goal for Sabino Marques this time. The Marata fans' excitement grew in the 83rd match minute when Marata's José Velasco looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 87th minute of the match Sabino Marques shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Maurício Couto showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 89 minutes into the match, ABC Futebol Clube's goal looked a bit too open when José Velasco came free, but Maurício Couto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 96 minutes into the match, ABC Futebol Clube's Edi Souza sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Adelino Duarte narrowly saved just below the crossbar. ABC Futebol Clube's Maurício Couto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Velasco in the 97th minute of play. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The ABC Futebol Clube fans cheered their team off the field, for while Marata had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
