Nando Mineiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Serafim Batista in the 18th minute of play. When Gláuber Quadros came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Posangue fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gláuber Quadros couldn't finish the play. 21 minutes into the match, Serafim Batista notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Posangue's Nando Mineiro. Nando Mineiro was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 29 minutes into the match, Posangue's goal looked a bit too open when Falcão Amorim came free, but Nando Mineiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Posangue's Gláuber Quadros got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 36th minute, Wilson Sousa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Pumas's Serafim Batista in the 46th minute got a chance for a shot 46th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Posangue's goalie prevented a goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gláuber Quadros was the one to do the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Falcão Amorim in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nando Mineiro saved Posangue from getting behind. Hamílton Saldanha's late challenge caught a Posangue's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Hamílton Saldanha helped the player get up and apologised. Wilson Sousa took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 57th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Gino Gomes. Pumas's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Hamílton Saldanha hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. A collision led to Posangue getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Caetano Cearense hit a great ball. In the 84th minute, Pumas's Falcão Amorim ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Nando Mineiro. Nando Mineiro yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-3. With a little luck, Posangue's Nando Mineiro got control of the ball when Serafim Batista tried to sneak it across the goal line. Falcão Amorim blasted a shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nando Mineiro having to make a save. Roger Queirós took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 93rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Nando Mineiro. Posangue's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The Posangue supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Pumas's performance. The match ended with a win for Pumas.
