Jonas Sabóia made an important save on a dangerous shot by Hamílton Viana in the 18th minute. Alfredo Dias charged in rather forcefully in the 24th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alfredo Dias the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Alfredo Dias hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. Jonas Sabóia made an important save on a dangerous shot by Hamílton Viana in the 30th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Adalmo Mazza during the 31st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Adalmo Mazza kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Alfredo Dias kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Jonas Sabóia. That made the score 1-2 in the 34 minute of play. Jonas Sabóia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcus Paraense in the 37th minute of play. Fiori Rodrigues took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 42nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for João Tróia. Cortez's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Angelo Gerber sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 47 minutes into the match, Digo Cosme had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of João Tróia. Cortez's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Digo Cosme was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Albertinho de Amaral was the one to do the kick off. 55 minutes into the game, Eurico Azevedo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-3. Jonas Sabóia was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Virgílio Reis managed to get in a good position for a shot. Matozinhos's supporters rose to their feet, but Virgílio Reis was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. João Tróia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Cortez's Adalmo Mazza got a free kick in the 59th minute. After 62 minutes Cortez's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Raphael Vergílio who took care of the corner kick. João Tróia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Angelo Gerber in the 65th minute of the match. Matozinhos's Albertinho de Amaral got a good chance for a goal in the 67th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. João Tróia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Angelo Gerber in the 69th minute of play. Albertinho de Amaral succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-4 in the 71st playminute. João Tróia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Albertinho de Amaral in the 76th minute of the match. With his leg João Tróia managed to avoid a goal in the 77thth minute, when Matozinhos's Albertinho de Amaral fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Angelo Gerber might have been able to make a better finish in the 80th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over João Tróia. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Angelo Gerber ran back to his position shaking his head. 84 minutes into the match, Eurico Azevedo notched a goal, 3-4, to the right of Matozinhos's Jonas Sabóia. Jonas Sabóia was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. If Albertinho de Amaral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 91st minute, Virgílio Reis got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The Cortez fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Matozinhos were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
