Agua Branca's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edgar Amorim was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 18 minutes, Vladimir de Barros mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Paqueta SC and the Agua Branca players grew even worse after the yellow card. Vânderson de Almeida was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 45 played minutes Paqueta SC got a freekick which was hit by Celso Schmidt. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The wind increased when Jonas Brasil made the kick off in the second half. Vânderson de Almeida stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jonas Brasil's shot from short distance in the 54th minute. Celso Schmidt blasted a shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Vânderson de Almeida having to make a save. The supporters of Paqueta SC booed when Agua Branca was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dida Prado didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jonas Brasil's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Vânderson de Almeida read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 59th minute of play.
