Scorpião Rei's Délio Meira got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 23rd minute, Mário Leme got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 27 minutes into the match, Asbalah Athletic's goal looked a bit too open when Alfredo Tavares came free, but Serginho Britto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Mário Leme came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Asbalah Athletic fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mário Leme couldn't finish the play. 34 minutes into the game, Hermínio Koehler recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Romeu Barral. Asbalah Athletic's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. In the 43rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Scorpião Rei's goalkeeper Romeu Barral, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
