In the 9thth minute of the game Ronnie Elliott who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Maricoabo SC's Washington Cruz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's Joel Passos proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 10th minute of the match, managed to save Cruzeiro Esporte Clube from getting a goal against them. Joel Passos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Walmir Velasco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Evandro Duarte's late challenge caught a Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Evandro Duarte helped the player get up and apologised. In the 19th minute, Evandro Duarte hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Joel Passos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rodrigo Oliveira in the 27th minute of the match. In the 29th minute Ronnie Elliott shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Washington Cruz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Washington Cruz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ronnie Elliott, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dedê Alcântara got free with Joel Passos in the 32nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Maricoabo SC's Washington Cruz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ronnie Elliott in the 33rd minute of play. After 37 minutes of play, Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's Ronnie Elliott made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Washington Cruz was left in no man's land by his defense there! A collision led to Cruzeiro Esporte Clube getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Fellipe de Lara hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Walmir Velasco managed to get in a good position for a shot. Maricoabo SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Walmir Velasco was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Joel Passos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 47th minute of the match, Rodriguinho Dias got a very nice opportunity to score, but Joel Passos was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Rodrigo Oliveira made a kick off. Washington Cruz made a fantastic save in the 54th minute, when Ronnie Elliott sent off a good shot on target. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Rodriguinho Dias in the 56th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Joel Passos prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 61st minute, Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's Ronnie Elliott dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-3. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rodrigo Oliveira in the 70th minute of play forced Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's goalkeeper Joel Passos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 72 played minutes Maricoabo SC got a freekick which was hit by Walmir Velasco. After a rather tough play, Maricoabo SC's Rodrigo Oliveira got a free kick in the 73rd minute. Joel Passos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dedê Alcântara, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Washington Cruz made a fantastic save in the 78th minute, when Ronnie Elliott sent off a good shot on target. After a defensive mix-up in Maricoabo SC's zone, Ronnie Elliott stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Washington Cruz came out of the goal and Ronnie Elliott tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 82nd minute Rodrigo Oliveira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joel Passos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ronnie Elliott sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ronnie Elliott got free with Washington Cruz in the 89th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Fellipe de Lara charged in rather forcefully in the 90th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Fellipe de Lara the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 90th minute, Fellipe de Lara hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rodrigo Oliveira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Joel Passos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Cruzeiro Esporte Clube players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
