An unexpected shot in the 22nd minute by Edvaldo de Senna got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 25th minute of the match, Ronnie Elliott got a very nice opportunity to score, but William Damião was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In a very dangerous position, a player in Josezinho fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 27th minute. Penalty! The goalkeeper, William Damião, was totally fooled by Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's Edvaldo de Senna, who 28 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. With an extended leg and a bit of luck William Damião prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, Ronnie Elliott managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's supporters rose to their feet, but Ronnie Elliott was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ronnie Elliott in the 94th minute of play forced Josezinho's goalkeeper William Damião to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 95 minutes into the match, Cruzeiro Esporte Clube's goalkeeper Joel Passos had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dedé Bastos. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Cruzeiro Esporte Clube fully deserved thier win.
