After 3 played minutes Irupi EC got a freekick which was hit by Bruno Ortiz. When André Gomes fell near the penalty area in the 9th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored CR RIO DE JANEIRO's protests and gave André Gomes a yellow card for diving instead. In the 9th match minute, CR RIO DE JANEIRO was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by André Gomes to maneuver through the defense. After 10 played minutes, Irupi EC's Osmar Guedes shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Cássio Garcia came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Irupi EC reached it. If Gil Senna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Oscar Senna in the 17th minute of play forced CR RIO DE JANEIRO's goalkeeper Cássio Garcia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 19th minute Gil Senna shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Roberto Galvão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 21 minutes into the game, Flávio Costa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. CR RIO DE JANEIRO's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Irupi EC the free kick. After 22 played minutes CR RIO DE JANEIRO got a freekick which was hit by Flávio Costa. In the 23rd minute, Mathias Velasco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, CR RIO DE JANEIRO's Flávio Costa got a free kick in the 26th minute. Raúl Garcia scored 0-1 in the 29th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Cássio Garcia, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

CR RIO DE JANEIRO's Cássio Garcia proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 52nd minute of the match, managed to save CR RIO DE JANEIRO from getting a goal against them. Cássio Garcia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Oscar Senna in the 54th minute of the match. Raúl Garcia could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 55th minute of the match, but Cássio Garcia made a huge save. 56 minutes into the game, Chrisostomos Karkantos was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. In the 61st minute, Sílvio Luiz Paraense hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 65 minutes into the match, Irupi EC's goal looked a bit too open when Gil Senna came free, but Roberto Galvão reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ciro Rossi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Roberto Galvão tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gil Senna scored 1-1 in the 68th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Roberto Galvão, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Cássio Garcia didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Raúl Garcia went, in the 73rd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. In the 76th minute, Bruno Ortiz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 80th minute, Oscar Senna got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Roberto Galvão took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ciro Rossi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by André Gomes in the 86th minute of play forced Irupi EC's goalkeeper Roberto Galvão to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mathias Velasco got free with Cássio Garcia in the 88th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 89 minutes into the match, Irupi EC's goal looked a bit too open when Gil Senna came free, but Roberto Galvão reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Irupi EC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
