Tostão Pena sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Wiliam Prestes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Moisés Carvalho in the 43rd minute of the match. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cacá Garcia stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Moisés Carvalho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wiliam Prestes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Beto Cearense in the 56th minute of the match. Tostão Pena came free with the goalkeeper in the 58th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Wiliam Prestes could save by the left post. After 61 played minutes Salgueirinho EC got a freekick which was hit by Ernesto Zanette. Vazante's Moisés Carvalho got a good chance for a goal in the 62nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 67 minutes, Dedé Medeiros managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Salgueirinho EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dedé Medeiros was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Vazante's Beto Cearense got a free kick in the 68th minute. After 69 minutes, Nelsinho de Queiroz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The referee ignored Salgueirinho EC's protests and gave Ricardinho de Andrade a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Vazante booed when Salgueirinho EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ricardinho de Andrade didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 85th minute, Gugu Pontes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 86 minutes, Dedé Medeiros managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Salgueirinho EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dedé Medeiros was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Dedé Medeiros's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Murilo Lucas read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 87th minute of play. Wiliam Prestes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Moisés Carvalho, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. In the 91st minute Moisés Carvalho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wiliam Prestes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Dedé Medeiros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Vazante supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Vazante would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
