Marcel Pinho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Glauco Barral in the 15th minute of play. Rony Sergipano's late challenge caught a Marapicu's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rony Sergipano helped the player get up and apologised. Rony Sergipano kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. In the 18th minute, Glauco Barral fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Marcel Pinho, passed just outside the right post. Tião Alvarenga who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 21stth minute tested the skills of Marcel Pinho when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Tião Alvarenga was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 26th minute. Marapicu's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. With an all-out effort, Marapicu's Marcel Pinho threw himself towards the right post 28 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Glauco Barral, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Albertinho Oliveira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Denílson de Salles in the 35th minute of the match. In the 36th minute Denílson de Salles shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Albertinho Oliveira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marcel Pinho stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Glauco Barral's shot from short distance in the 38th minute. If Glauco Barral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Albertinho Oliveira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Walmyr Vaz, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute.

The wind increased when Walmyr Vaz made the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, Glauco Barral had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Marcel Pinho. Confiança-SE's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Glauco Barral was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Tião Alvarenga received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Marcel Pinho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Glauco Barral in the 58th minute of play forced Confiança-SE's goalkeeper Marcel Pinho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marcel Pinho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Glauco Barral, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Marcel Pinho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Glauco Barral in the 66th minute of play. 69 minutes into the match, Marapicu's goalkeeper Albertinho Oliveira had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Denílson de Salles. If Tião Alvarenga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 78th match minute, Marapicu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leopoldo de Barros to maneuver through the defense. Tião Alvarenga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 89th match minute, Marapicu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jefferson Penha to maneuver through the defense. Maicon Furlan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 92nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Marapicu players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
