But to his dismay, Enéas Bertassi quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Clóvis Marinho was the one to do the kick off. Fabrício da Silva took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 54th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Guga Pombal. Iaras's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After 55 played minutes Iaras got a freekick which was hit by Décio Velloso. 59 minutes into the match, Rio Branco Esporte Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Clóvis Marinho came free, but Vágner Montenegro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Luiz Guilherme Sampaio's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Guga Pombal was relentless in the 62nd minute of the game. Iaras's supporters rose to their feet, but Enéas Bertassi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vágner Montenegro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Rio Branco Esporte Clube's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
