Faustão Melo showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Belmiro Tande stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Evandro Ferraz's shot from short distance in the 13th minute. In the 13thth minute of the game Evandro Ferraz who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Rio Grande Futebol's Belmiro Tande was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 17th minute, Adriano Pereira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ubirataia's Paulo José Nascimento got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Belmiro Tande showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lúcio Rezende, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Valdemar de Lima in the 27th minute of play forced Ubirataia's goalkeeper Fabiano Zanette to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Lúcio Rezende had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Belmiro Tande was a little too slow when José Vítor Mesquita got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 38th minute. The score was now 2-0. José Vítor Mesquitas short, quick shot in the 44thth minute got Belmiro Tande to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Valdemar de Lima made a kick off. After a rather tough play, Ubirataia's Oséias Neto got a free kick in the 53rd minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Maurinho Teixeira during the 58th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Belmiro Tande didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Faustão Melo went, in the 86th minute, to the upper right corner, 5-0 was the resulting score. In the 90th minute, Evandro Ferraz ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Belmiro Tande was frozen by the shot and now it was 6-0. Belmiro Tande made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Evandro Ferraz in the 93rd minute of play. Ubirataia's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
