In the 16th match minute, Itatuba FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cipriano Toscano to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paulo José Matorin in the 19th minute of play forced Corinthians's goalkeeper Oséas do Vale to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Corinthians's Raí Penha managed to work through Itatuba FC's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal.
