The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 3rd minute Fernandão Magalhães shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Remond Lambers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cometa's Remond Lambers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Isaltino Cabral in the 7th minute of play. A hard shot 9 in the game by Luís Guilherme Vergílio from a close distance when the talented Evaristo de Godoi managed to make a qualified save. Xavantina's players were relieved. Miguel Borja received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Evaristo de Godoi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Remond Lambers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fernandão Magalhães in the 13th minute of the match. 15 minutes into the match, Xavantina's goalkeeper Evaristo de Godoi had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Luís Guilherme Vergílio. Luís Guilherme Vergílio didn't miss a given chance and shot in short distance 1-0 via right post in the game's 17th minute. Cometa's supporters showed their exhuberating excitement! Rômulo Vale's late challenge caught a Xavantina's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rômulo Vale helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Cometa getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Rômulo Vale hit a great ball. Donato Aguiar hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. The supporters of Cometa booed when Xavantina was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fernandão Magalhães didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luís Guilherme Vergílio in the 30thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Evaristo de Godoi, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Luís Guilherme Vergílio recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Luís Guilherme Vergílio in the 42ndth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Evaristo de Godoi, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After 43 minutes of play, Xavantina's Isaltino Cabral made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Remond Lambers was left in no man's land by his defense there! The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Luís Guilherme Vergílio to strike the kick off in the second half. Evaristo de Godoi came out of the goal in the 51st minute to try and stop a shot by Cometa's Miguel Borja. But to his dismay, Miguel Borja quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-1. Xavantina's Fernandão Magalhães got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some careless play in the Xavantina defense, Luís Guilherme Vergílio kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Evaristo de Godoi. The Xavantina fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Evaristo de Godoi should have stopped the shot. A collision led to Xavantina getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Gerson Dantas hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Luís Guilherme Vergílio in the 72nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Evaristo de Godoi saved Xavantina from getting behind. Rui Dantas made a great header on Cometa's corner, it was just that Xavantina's Evaristo de Godoi managed to reach the ball for a save. After a defensive mix-up in Cometa's zone, Fernandão Magalhães stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Remond Lambers came out of the goal and Fernandão Magalhães tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cometa's Elias Macedo was substituted for Luís Guilherme Vergílio. In the 87th minute Afonsinho Medeiros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Evaristo de Godoi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Flavinho Favoretto hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. When the match had gone on for 92 minutes, Elias Macedo put it in 5-1 from a short distance just to the right of Evaristo de Godoi. Cometa's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
