Firmo EC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 8th minute, when Luís Gustavo Dantas scored to the left of an out of position Carlos Fernando Massa, making the score, 1-0. With a little luck, Firmo EC's Carlos Fernando Massa got control of the ball when Ernani Mattos tried to sneak it across the goal line. The referee felt a red card was in order, 17 minutes into the game, when Paulo Mineiro put in a rough tackle. Paulo Mineiro kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Pesqueirinho's Pedrão Quadros got a free kick in the 47th minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Lúcio da Fonseca made the kick off in the second half. Cesinha Pinho's late challenge caught a Firmo EC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cesinha Pinho helped the player get up and apologised. Cesinha Pinho kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. Lúcio da Fonseca might have been able to make a better finish in the 58th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Enéas Quadros. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lúcio da Fonseca ran back to his position shaking his head.
