Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Percy Alagoano started the match with the kick off. In the 2nd match minute, Flamengo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by João Francisco Cruz to maneuver through the defense. When Contagem E.C's Percy Alagoano in 4 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. João Carlos Barros guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 6th minute of the game. One of Flamengo:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Contagem E.C:s goal. In the 7th minute there was a penalty for Contagem E.C. Juvenal Arce stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving João Carlos Barros. 0-1. Laércio Cabral recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 11th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Paulinho Favoretto during the 17th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 17 played minutes Flamengo got a freekick which was hit by Paulinho Favoretto. Tarcisio Prado showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Laércio Cabral, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. Jonas Veiga kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. 29 minutes into the match, Contagem E.C's Ruy Silva sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that João Carlos Barros narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet as Zé Roberto de Alcântara kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Tarcisio Prado. That made the score 1-1 in the 32 minute of play. Zé Roberto de Alcântara in the 36thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Tarcisio Prado, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. If Laércio Cabral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Contagem E.C's Tarcisio Prado got control of the ball when Zé Roberto de Alcântara tried to sneak it across the goal line. Percy Alagoano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without João Carlos Barros having to interfere. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 46th minute of the game. One of Flamengo:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Contagem E.C:s goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Laércio Cabral stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute Laércio Cabral shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tarcisio Prado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 58 minutes into the game, Percy Alagoano cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. João Carlos Barros was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Tarcisio Prado showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Laércio Cabral in the 63rd minute of the match. Percy Alagoano received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. João Carlos Barros came out and tried to block the shot, but Percy Alagoano slotted it home off the left post making it 1-4 in the 64th minute. In the 69th minute, João Adolfo Gomes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Laércio Cabral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a defensive mix-up in Contagem E.C's zone, Laércio Cabral stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tarcisio Prado came out of the goal and Laércio Cabral tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 77 minutes into the match, Zé Roberto de Alcântara had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Tarcisio Prado. Contagem E.C's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Zé Roberto de Alcântara was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-4. Luiz Fabiano de Azevedo hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. 84 minutes into the match, Contagem E.C's goal looked a bit too open when Zé Roberto de Alcântara came free, but Tarcisio Prado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 87 minutes into the game, Marquinhos Negri was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Contagem E.C's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Flamengo the free kick. In the 87th minute, Marquinhos Negri hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tarcisio Prado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zé Roberto de Alcântara, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 91st minute Laércio Cabral shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tarcisio Prado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nildo Bertassi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. João Carlos Barros tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
